About the Role:

Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) is seeking a skilled and motivated Junior Web Developer to join its Computing and Communications Services (CCS) team on a full-time, temporary (1-year) basis. This position plays a crucial role in supporting and enhancing web applications critical to the university’s academic and administrative operations.

As a Junior Web Developer, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of full-stack web applications. You will also collaborate with stakeholders, provide user support, and ensure all code complies with industry standards and internal guidelines.

This is a hybrid role based in Toronto, ON, offering the opportunity to work in a diverse, equity-focused institution making real-world impact in education.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain full-stack web applications using Django, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL.
  • Participate in the design and testing of new application features and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand technical requirements and translate them into functional solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards, security protocols, and performance optimization techniques.
  • Utilize Git and PyCharm (or equivalent IDE) for source control and development.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of applications, workflows, and deployment procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and provide user support for application-related issues.
  • Keep current with trends and advancements in web technologies and frameworks.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

  • Prior experience working with or within marginalized or underrepresented communities is a strong asset.

Education Requirements:

  • A post-secondary degree in Information Systems or Computer Science, or
  • Minimum of 4 years of specialized training and hands-on experience in web development.
