About the Role
As a Software Engineer (Front End), you will play a crucial role in building and enhancing cutting-edge web applications for PlayStation. You’ll be part of a collaborative engineering team responsible for creating high-quality, well-tested features using modern front-end technologies like React and React Native. You will contribute to key PlayStation platforms and products used by millions worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and document JavaScript-based business-critical web features and applications.
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners and Product Managers to gather technical and functional requirements.
- Create maintainable, efficient code with strong unit and component testing coverage.
- Conduct peer code reviews and contribute feedback on technical design plans.
- Independently own features from design through implementation.
- Participate in innovation-driven initiatives like Hackathons and Cafe Days.
- Continuously work on performance optimizations and improvements across the product suite.
- Proactively participate in team discussions, problem-solving, and brainstorming sessions.
Eligibility Criteria
- Recent graduates or professionals with up to 2 years of experience in front-end or web development are eligible.
- Candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to Waterloo or surrounding areas for occasional in-person engagements.
Education Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent industry experience (minimum 5 years without a degree).
Technical Skills Required
HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular, Ember, Jest, Babel, TypeScript, React Native, SPA frameworks, Git, Front-End Testing, Web Performance Optimization
Additional Desired Qualifications
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Passion for writing sustainable and scalable code.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Experience working cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and backend engineers.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and performance best practices.
