About the Role:
Hitachi Rail is looking for a motivated and curious Software Analyst Intern for a 12-month full-time internship. The selected candidate will work with cross-functional teams to enhance cloud environments, support automation, ensure system stability, and contribute to cybersecurity practices. This opportunity is ideal for students in their penultimate or final year who want hands-on experience in DevOps, cloud platforms, and FinOps.
As a Software Analyst Intern, you will be engaged in real-time cloud monitoring, automation pipeline development, infrastructure as code, and container orchestration, while working in a hybrid model with at least 2 days per week in the Toronto office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing and enhancing AWS and Azure cloud environments
- Support automation tasks using Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes
- Monitor and maintain performance and stability of systems using tools like Prometheus and Grafana
- Collaborate with teams to ensure availability, scalability, and security of applications
- Help resolve user issues and perform basic troubleshooting
- Learn and participate in the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines
- Work with containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes
- Maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) to support consistent deployment and provisioning
- Apply cybersecurity best practices including IAM, RBAC, and network policies
- Learn financial operations (FinOps) in cloud cost optimization
Eligibility Criteria:
- Open to students from 2024, 2025, and 2026 batches
- Must be available for a 12-month full-time internship from September 2025 to August 2026
- Must be able to work 40 hours/week in a hybrid setup (minimum 2 days/week in office)
- Candidates should be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:
- Computer Science
- Engineering
- Information Systems
- or a related technical field
Technical Skills Required:

Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous internship or academic project experience in cloud, DevOps, or cybersecurity
- Familiarity with scripting or command-line tools (e.g., Python, PowerShell)
- Awareness of cloud monitoring and logging tools
- Understanding of infrastructure and security concepts (IAM, RBAC, networking basics)
- Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative technical team
