About the Role:
Ciena is seeking passionate and skilled new graduates to join our team as Software Developers in 2025. This is a full-time opportunity based in Ottawa, designed for those who are eager to contribute to real-world projects, participate in cutting-edge development, and grow with a global technology leader.
As a Software Developer, you will be part of a dynamic, agile team contributing to the development of innovative optical network solutions. You’ll be actively involved in all stages of the software development lifecycle, from ideation to deployment. You will work cross-functionally with UI/UX designers, QA engineers, DevOps professionals, and release managers to bring advanced networking technologies to life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable software systems.
- Collaborate across teams in an agile environment including design, QA, and product management.
- Write efficient, reliable, and maintainable code in languages such as C, C++, or Python.
- Troubleshoot and debug software using Linux-based tools like GCC, GDB, and GNU.
- Utilize version control and collaboration tools such as Git, Bitbucket, and Confluence.
- Work with DevOps tools and frameworks like Docker, Jenkins, Kubernetes, and Grafana.
- Develop embedded software and real-time systems engineered for high performance.
- Contribute to automation, test-driven development, and system integration.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be graduating with a Bachelor’s degree by 2025 in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong programming fundamentals and a passion for innovation.
- Previous internship or co-op experience in software development is an advantage.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship at the time of application.
Education Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
