Role Overview: Front End Software Engineer
The Front End Software Engineer role at PlayStation is an exciting opportunity for early-career developers or anyone looking to advance their web development skills in a high-impact environment. You will design, build, and optimize JavaScript-based applications that form a critical part of the PlayStation ecosystem.
This is a 12-month contractor position based in Waterloo, with flexibility for hybrid work. You’ll collaborate with Product Owners, Product Managers, and fellow engineers to turn feature requirements into high-quality, customer-facing web solutions. From building new components to refining existing applications, your work will directly influence how millions of players interact with PlayStation services every day.

Key Responsibilities
As a Front End Software Engineer, your daily work blends technical expertise with creative problem-solving. Responsibilities include:

Eligibility & Education
PlayStation welcomes candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. Applicants with at least five years of relevant professional experience are also considered. The ideal candidate has 0–2+ years of web development experience and is ready to contribute to a team focused on creating exceptional user experiences.
Required Skills
Success in this role requires proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with experience using modern frameworks like React, Angular, or Ember. Knowledge of testing frameworks such as Jest and Babel, and familiarity with TypeScript, will help you excel.
