About the Role:
Coalition, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer I to join our dynamic Renewals Engineering Team. In this role, you will develop backend services, design scalable APIs, and ensure our systems deliver accurate and efficient results. You will work with complex business rules, ensuring they map to deterministic outcomes, while maintaining engineering excellence. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into actionable, high-quality solutions.
The Renewals Engineering Team is committed to increasing renewal rates and creating a seamless customer experience. Leveraging advanced technologies and data analytics, the team delivers personalized insurance solutions that adapt to evolving cybersecurity risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build high-quality APIs and web services that provide scalable, efficient, and user-friendly interfaces
- Design, document, and deploy public interfaces that are intuitive and enjoyable for developers to consume
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders such as product, design, and sales teams to break down requirements into actionable development plans
- Work alongside Site Reliability Engineers to deliver stable applications using a consistent software development lifecycle
- Develop and maintain automated test suites to ensure code quality and reliability
- Address unforeseen technical challenges and contribute to improving processes and systems within the organization
Eligibility Criteria:
- 0–2+ years of combined internship and/or professional software development experience
- Proficiency in backend development with Python and/or Go
- Strong understanding of cloud-native development, horizontal scaling, and 12-factor app design principles
- Familiarity with secure coding practices and OWASP standards
- Hands-on experience with REST, gRPC, or GraphQL APIs
- Experience with Docker and container-based deployment
- Knowledge of source control tools such as Git, SVN, or Perforce
- Ability to work in agile teams and use collaborative tools such as GitHub, GitLab, or Atlassian Suite
- Comfortable working in a fully remote environment
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience
