About the Role
Rakuten Kobo Inc. is seeking a Software QA Intern (Part-Time) to join our innovative eReader team. This position is available in Toronto, Canada or Darmstadt, Germany and offers the opportunity to work closely with a skilled team of software engineers, product managers, and designers. As a Software QA Intern, you will play a key role in ensuring that new features and updates are thoroughly tested, user-friendly, and bug-free before reaching our customers. This role is ideal for students eager to gain hands-on experience in software testing and quality assurance while contributing to a global leader in digital reading.
Key Responsibilities
- Test software to identify bugs and ensure functionality, performance, and usability
- Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Design and execute manual and automated test cases
- Explore creative edge cases to detect unexpected software failures
- Log detailed and reproducible bug reports for the development team
- Maintain documentation of test results and progress
- Participate in planning sessions and contribute to product quality improvements
- Learn and work with industry-standard QA tools and processes
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a post-secondary institution program at an accredited Canadian or German institution
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and detail-oriented mindset
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
- Effective communication skills in both oral and written form
- Previous experience developing or executing test cases
- Innovative thinking and willingness to explore new testing approaches
Education Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Software Engineering, or a related field
