Equitable Bank is hiring Summer Intern | CAD $42k per year

About the Role:

Equitable Bank, known as Canada’s Challenger Bank™, is inviting applications from Indigenous students and recent graduates for its Indigenous Internship Program. This internship is designed to promote diversity and inclusion by researching systemic barriers Indigenous peoples face in accessing financial services. The program provides selected interns an opportunity to contribute meaningful research, develop professional skills, and make an impact within Indigenous communities.

This internship will take place in a hybrid work environment with positions available in Toronto and Regina. Interns will be placed in designated business groups and collaborate with team members to contribute to projects, research initiatives, and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

General Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research focused on systemic barriers to financial access for Indigenous communities
  • Utilize personal and lived experiences to identify key challenges and raise awareness
  • Collaborate with fellow Indigenous interns across locations
  • Develop and present a final research paper or report including actionable recommendations

Business Group-Specific Responsibilities:

  • Support ongoing initiatives and assist with daily operations
  • Contribute ideas during team meetings and planning discussions
  • Help identify opportunities for internal improvements
  • Participate in administrative or project-based assignments as required

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit)
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college, university, or equivalent academic program
  • Interest in financial services, research, or community development is preferred
  • Must be available to work in a hybrid setup from Toronto or Regina

Education Requirement:

  • Enrolled in or a graduate of any discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution (college/university or equivalent)
  • Background in Business, Finance, Social Sciences, Indigenous Studies, or related fields is considered an asset

Technical Skills Required:

Microsoft Office Suite, Research Methodology, Report Writing, Communication Skills, Critical Thinking, Analytical Skills, Time Management, Team Collaboration
