Overview of the Position
Ericsson Canada is inviting applications for the Software Baseband Developer Co-op Fall 2025 program based in Ottawa, Ontario. This is a hybrid position starting from September 2, 2025, with a minimum of 60% in-office presence as per team requirement. The co-op can last for 8, 12, or 16 months. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this role.
About the Role
As a Software Baseband Developer Co-op, you will be part of Ericsson’s RAN Performance software development team. Multiple specialized positions are available within this program, giving you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in developing and testing real-time software for 5G base stations and other wireless communication technologies.
Available Tracks Include:
- 5G Software Developer
Work on developing, testing, and debugging 5G features focused on Layer 1 and Layer 2 baseband software. - Software Infrastructure Developer
Develop low-level software that supports baseband applications like 5G, LTE, WCDMA, and GSM. Work in Agile teams managing the full development lifecycle. - Tools Developer
Build and debug web-based and command-line tools supporting developer operations such as log analysis, troubleshooting, test automation, and software management. - Automated Test Developer
Design and develop automated testing infrastructure and test cases targeting 5G features and simulation frameworks. - AI Developer Experience
Leverage AI/GenAI technologies to enhance test automation workflows. Apply prompt engineering and fine-tune AI models for use in code generation and testing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and follow Agile methodologies
- Develop and debug real-time 5G base station software
- Build and maintain automated test cases for 5G features
- Support investigation and resolution of software issues
- Build tools for log analysis, command-line interfaces, and dashboards
- Contribute to development of testing frameworks and scripts
- Participate in AI/ML powered software automation initiatives
- Support software deployment, testing, and integration activities in lab environments
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without the need for immigration sponsorship
- Must be available for a full-time co-op from September 2025 for 8, 12, or 16 months
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral program in a relevant field
- Entering any co-op term (1st, 2nd, or beyond)
- Strong programming and debugging skills
- Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English
- Knowledge of 5G or LTE protocols is an asset
Education Requirement
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a closely related field
